The Weeks family arrives at the Bonnevile Salt Flats for Speedweek 08. This is the 60th anniversary year of official racing out here. Miles of salt to run wild!
Probably looking down at a rattlesnake or something dangerous.
Vacation for us and work for the kids... We need to look into child labor laws when we get back.
Speaking of work, ahh nevermind.
Another snake probably
What a cute kid!
Getting ready to cook up some steaks.
While I'm posing my shorts will probably catch fire.
Were all set up for our stay on the salt
We really need to bring 4 wheelers next time and my wheelchair doesn't count.
Sun set and rise is really cool in this place. This was taken just after sunset.
Alone at last, a man and his steaks.
A great shot of the mountains to the North.
Something we missed last year was the magnesium fire that is lit every year. It burns really bright!
Otherwise known as the "bend in the road" where all the racers and spectators camp.
They must have stayed up too late the night before.
See our van in the reflection of this tanker? Codi almost left the road a couple of times trying to apply some eye liner while driving next to this thing. She is such a princess.
Salt Salt Salt
The ritual tasting of the race surface, step 1
Should I do it, Step 2
Step 3
Step 4
He'll try it next year probably too, lol
Adam was not too happy about his girl hair but we gotta have some entertainment while we are here. We're awful sometimes.
Man I am cooking yet again. We had grilled mushrooms and marinated chicken breast as the cars made their record runs about 1500ft from us.
The boys are backin town :)
This is what I live for!
Cute legs and feet
Queen of the salt!
I love you Codi!
Lance loves his Mom
Perfect contrast picture. 23 weeks along and counting.
Hyabusas are fun!
This relatively stock bike ran about 205 a few hours before this pic was taken. We had a hard time pulling the kids off this thing.
Keeping cool while strolling around the inspection area. This bellytank lakester was built from the external gas tank from a WWII bomber. The shape is perfect for high speed runs and there was plenty available post WWII. Very cool! See more of these on the car page from our trip.
I saw this big old dragon fly just sitting at my feet and had to pick it up and look at it.
The fun bus for sure!
Funny to see a speed limit about 1500 ft from where cars are hitting over 370 mph!
Funny pic of Codi folding up the tent in high winds. OK that sounded bad but I had to get in the car in order for everything to fit but it was still sort of funny to see. we all had a good laugh afterwards...
Fireworks don't always go up, sometimes they go sideways. The first night there were some really good fireworks but some people got carried away about a hundred yards from our camp.
On the road again. After 3 days we are going home. The car is quiet.
Lot's of campers this year! From the looks of things the economy can't be too bad ehh. I don't think they are giving campers away just yet, lol
The Salt Cafe, showers and bathrooms and a small restaurant.
Rear view mirror pic that was really cute
The tree of Utah. No comment.
